About Nordic Culture Clubs



       The Nordic Culture Clubs is a nonprofit alliance of the six Scandinavian
      clubs of Fargo-Moorhead with a mission to preserve, celebrate
and perpetuate Nordic cultures.

The Nordic Culture Clubs host many community events each year including

the Taste of Scandinavia and the Nordic Gala

ANNUAL Scandinavian Festival @ Hjemkomst Center.

the Viking that united Denmark
                   

Harald "Bluetooth" Gormsson was a king of Denmark and Norway. He was the son of King Gorm the Old and of Thyra Dannebod. Harald ruled as king of Denmark from c. 958 – c. 986. Harald introduced Christianity to Denmark and consolidated his rule over most of Jutland and Zealand.

Freydis Eiriksdottir, daughter of Erik the Red
the most famous female Viking.

Freydís Eiríksdóttir was an Icelandic woman said to be the daughter of Erik the Red, who figured prominently in the Norse exploration of North America as an early colonist of Vinland, while her brother, Leif Erikson, is credited in early histories of the region with the first European contact.

Sweyn led massive raids against England in 1002-5, 1006-7 and 1009-1012. This was done not only for riches and power but for revenge, for in 1002, English king Æthelred the Unready ordered that all the Danes in England be killed. This is known as the St. Brice’s Day Massacre.

the fearless Viking hero and unstoppable leader
                            
Ragnar was a 9th-century Danish king whose campaigns included a battle with the Holy Roman emperor Charlemagne. According to Saxo’s legendary history, Ragnar was eventually captured by the Anglo-Saxon king Aella of Northumbria and thrown into a snake pit to die.
