Why We Are Fundraising

In 2023, the Board of Directors of Youth Rise Texas cast the difficult vote to close the organization. Given the changing financial landscape of Texas, there was no clear path forward for Youth Rise Texas, and we were forced to make the hardest possible decision.

Unfortunately, the Board of Directors was unable to secure the expected funding needed to satisfy several outstanding obligations. Our efforts to sunset have also been complicated by the structure of our debt, which holds the former executive directors personally liable if the Board of Directors is unable to satisfy organization debts.

This final round of fundraising allows us to close out the organization and ensures that two promising careers in the nonprofit space are not impacted by the closure of the organization.

What We Hope To Raise

Over the past few months, the Board of Directors has made great progress in satisfying our remaining obligations. We now see a very narrow path forward to solvency for the organization and are turning to friends and family of Youth Rise Texas to satisfy our remaining debts.

Our goal is to raise $20,000 by the end of August. Of this total, $13,075 will go towards settlements that ensure former leadership is not subject to litigation.

Youth Rise Texas remains a registered 501(c)3, and donation letters will be provided to all contributors through Better Unite.

Where Additional Funds Will Go:

In a scenario where Youth Rise Texas is able to fundraise more than is needed, all available funds will be donated to our partners in the Texas Youth Power Alliance (TYPA) network.
