Pedal It Forward
Through the Pedal It Forward program, we save bikes from landfills and turn them into free, sustainable modes of transportation for others who face transportation challenges in our community. This program serves children, people facing housing instability, individuals in recovery from substance abuse, and households with low to moderate incomes who do not have the means to purchase a bike on their own.
This year, we have donated over 200 fully refurbished bikes back to the community and counting!
Our Goal
We currently have 50 people on our waitlist to receive a bike.
Refurbishing and donating each bike costs us approximately $178. $75 goes to parts like tires and chains, $85 to labor, and $18 to administrative overhead, representing the time our staff uses to coordinate the donation.
Our goal is to raise $8,900 to provide bikes to as many people on this waitlist as possible by the end of the year. A monetary donation of any amount will help us get through this waitlist quickly and get as many people on bikes as we can before the holidays! You can read a few of the many requests we have received below.
Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday is a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. While the day to celebrate is Tuesday, December 3rd, we're raising funds all month to give bikes this Giving Tuesday through the Pedal It Forward program.
