Donate to expand and enhance our trails and support equitable access to quality green space.
June 4th is #NationalTrailsDay! This day is all about advocacy and the celebration of our hometown trails. Whether it be hiking Browns Mound, floating down the Ocmulgee River, reflecting in Riverside Cemetery, walking at Amerson River Park, or biking at the Ocmulgee Mounds National Historical Park, these spaces have provided ample options for recreation and retreat. We need your help to expand our trails so everyone has access to these places that can calm and inspire. Macon Trails Day is the perfect opportunity to get out there with the people you love, enjoy the trail, and give back to the trails that bring us together. If you love Macon's trails, consider making a donation to help us form new connections and maintain the Ocmulgee Heritage Trails, one of Macon's greatest assets.
Here is how you can join us in celebrating National Trails Day in Central Georgia:
- Join us. Bring out your friends, family, and bicycles to Amerson River Park on June 4th from 9 am to 12 noon for the free Wild About Trails event! More event info here: https://bit.ly/wildabouttrails
- Make a donation. Proceeds will benefit NewTown Macon's Ocmulgee Heritage Trail construction fund which furthers trail expansion. Donations will also support traffic calming projects led by Bike Walk Macon that will connect to the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail.
- Get active. Hop on a new (or familiar) trailway in Macon. There are several trail options for you and the family to get out and get active by biking, running, walking, or skating! Pick one and enjoy!
- Connect. Whatever way you choose to celebrate our community’s greenspaces, connect with us on social media. Tag @bikewalkmacon or @newtownmacon with the hashtag #TrailsDayMACON
