Wyrd and Healing Magic |
If you are curious about the intersection of heathenry, psychotherapy, ecology, fate, and destiny, then I invite you to join me on an in-depth inquiry into the mysteries of wyrd. Wyrd is a multidimensional and multifaceted concept composed of the interweaving of fate, destiny, nature, soul, magic and becoming. In this presentation/workshop, we will take a psychological, philosophical, phenomenological, and magical approach as we explore the revealing, healing and transformative nature of wyrd, wyrd consciousness, and the process of wyrdcraft. |

Rune Magic |
You've heard the call of the runes and you answered. You memorized the meanings and can interpret a cast, but deep inside you know there is so much more.
This talk will go beyond the use of the runes for divination and will discuss some of the many ways in which runes can be used for magic. From simple inscriptions to the construction of Bindrunes - using the runes to construct sigils or even self-contained spells to convey your intention into the world.
This will not be "Runes 101" - it will assume that you are familiar with the meanings of the Elder Futhark, but the techniques are adaptable to all the different futharks. If you are a beginner, you are still welcome, as this class could give you some ideas of where to go in your future studies. |

Presenter Biographies
Kim Pierri
Kim Pierri is a member of the Troth Clergy and resides in Denmark.
Rodney Basler
Rod Basler has been drifting around the edges of the Esoteric for more years than he cares to remember, let alone admit. Unusually, his interest in the runes resulted from an early exposure to Norse mythology and Scandinavian archaeology, rather than from Marvel comics. Describing himself as one of "Odin's Chew Toys," he hangs around with two large, gray dogs, and is visited every morning and evening by the local crows...not that he is consciously TRYING to fulfill some stereotype or anything...
Jan Hijatt
John "Jan" Hijatt is a Troth member since 2012. He is former Rede member, current Military Steward, and Troth Ambassador. He has been working with runes since 2008, conducts workshops, and hosts of Gifts of the Wyrd Podcast.
Rev Máire Durkan
Máire Durkan is an ordained Godswoman with The Troth and author of Circle of Frith: A Devotional to Frigg and Her Handmaidens.
Carl Bonebright
Carl Bonebright is our Assistant Steer, or COO, for The Troth. Carl has been a member of the Troth for several years, and had the honor of being an active member of the Rede for four years to date. He has worked with several members and officers throughout the years to improve the organization in ways that were available at the time, but is most excited about the opportunity to aid in the Bylaws Rewrite. He currently lives in Alabama.
Lauren Crow
Lauren Crow is the current Steer, or CEO, for The Troth. For 10 years, she worked in news and broadcasting in almost every role from on-air talent to overnight technician. Her career then moved into marketing and search engine optimization, where she worked with several Fortune 500 companies in delivering effective targeting marketing. She is the former co-host of Heathen Talk, SHEathenry, and technical director for the Heathen Talk Network. She co-founded Black Bear Kindred of Central Arkansas in 2003 where she has served as She Who Must Be Obeyed since the founding. In addition to her Troth duties, she is also the Vice President of Arkansas Pagan Pride and does freelance marketing and reputation management.
Karin Dahlstrom
As a Trolldom & Rún Valdr practioner, Karin follows an animistic Norse shamanic healing path. She is an accredited shamanic life coach, spiritual teacher, rune reader, as well as a certified crystal practitioner.
Winifred Rose
Winifred Hodge Rose, a Troth Elder, has been a member of the Troth for 29 years, and has been publishing in Idunna for almost that long. She currently helps with Idunna publication, and is leading a team which is developing a multi-media study course for the Troth: “Introduction to Heathen Soul Lore.” She has published three books to date: Heathen Soul Lore Foundations; Heathen Soul Lore: A Personal Approach; and Idunn’s Trees: A New Tale of the Norse Goddess Idunn (illustrated story and activity book for children). Her fourth book will be out before Trothmoot, titled Oaths, Shild, Frith, Luck & Wyrd: Five Essays Exploring Heathen Ethical Concepts and their Use Today. Winifred’s writings are also available on her website: https://heathensoullore.net.
Ash McKernan
Ash McKernan is a licensed and practicing psychotherapist, bard in training, life-long explorer of wyrd, and author of the book: Wyrdcraft: Healing Self and Nature Through the Mysteries of the Fates (Llewellyn, Jan 2023). Ash loves to spend time at the crossroads where psyche, nature, magic, and healing intersect. You can visit his website at www.wyrdwildweb.com.
