Homelessness doesn’t merely change lives—all too often, it ends them. On average, people without homes die 30 years sooner than people with housing, and they are 3-4 times likelier to die. Homelessness in America has become a human rights crisis as 1.5 million children are living homeless today.
We created our organization because we believe that no one should live or die in homelessness.
Somebody Cares has launched a huge initiative called the iCare Campaign . This campaign does three amazing things:
We serve meals to keep the homeless fed with our morning manna program multiple times a week.
Our foodbank is open for the community to grab as much food as they need twice a week for free.
We work with those in prison so they do not become homeless when they get out.
This cause is extremely urgent because homelessness is rising. In 2019, homelessness in the United States increased for the second consecutive year. Some subpopulations are declining, but overall more and more Americans are facing life in shelters or on the streets. Right now we have 1.5 million students living homeless in America.
The best way to get involved is to join Somebody Cares Denver as a monthly sustaining member. When you do that you join the hundreds of other human rights defenders who share your values and give as much as they can for as long as they can.
Let's get you on board! What's a meaningful donation to you?
