Bell parents and staff agree that Bell School needs to expand our learning and understanding of the deaf and hard of hearing community. Having ASL instruction in primary grades is critical to support the inclusion of all students in the wonderful Bell community. It is heartbreaking that we are not properly preparing students to adequately communicate with their classmates leading to isolation of the deaf department. We use the fingerspelling as part of promoting Bell school, but are not sufficiently teach sign, fingerspelling, or culture to our students. We have heard these demands from the community and working towards providing additional support for ACL instructors and want to expand our learning and understanding of the deaf and hard of hearing community as members of Bell. Supporting this Wish List item will help support and expand this critical part of Bell School for all Bell Students.
