Hello friends,
It's been almost a year and a half since I discovered Merivis on my transition journey. Since then, I am now officially a civilian again! 22 years sure did go by pretty fast! I'm learning how to take the best parts of my military identity and use those a the foundation to forge a new identity. Helping others and giving back has always been (and will continue to be) my bedrock.
My life has been completely changed by Merivis through access to training and certification, but most importantly through the family and community that is Merivis. If you've seen any of my social media or talked to me in person, you know how unashamedly I promote Merivis. I do that because I am 100% committed to their mission. My fundraiser is an extension of that commitment because they are non-profit and can't offer their programs without your help.
My goal this year is to raise $1000 for Merivis, but I need your help!
What Exactly Does Merivis Do?
In 4 years, Merivis has held 16 cohorts dedicated serving veterans/mil-spouses in their transition to civilian careers. These include technical skills training, both in-person and virtual, 1x1 coaching, plus a variety of soft skills and professional development topics such as resume reviews, interview skills, building a personal brand, effective networking, and social media strategy. Over the last 4 years, we have had over 250 alumni who have gone on to work at Dell, Amazon, Google, Capgemini, Accenture, and other prestigious companies across the country. We are excited to launch more programs and training classes in 2020 but need your help to make that happen.
How Can You Help?
First, please donate to my campaign. While Merivis grew 300% year over year class-wise in 2019 and expect 2020 to be even bigger. My campaign is aiming to bring our first cohort to the DC metro area in 2020. Second, help us get the word out. Our military Veterans/mil-spouses shouldn't have to struggle after leaving the military - while the veteran stories now coming out after they are hired are inspiring, I want vets and their spouses to know amazing career opportunities are waiting for them and not have to worry about how they will support their family. Finally, if you work at a vet-friendly organization, please let me know so I can explain partnership opportunities and how you can provide career opportunities for our alumni.
Thank you for your time and consideration in helping our #merivets family.
