ABOUT PHYT CARES
Phyt Cares is the minority and woman-led 501c3 U.S. tax-exempt and 1101.01 Puerto Rico tax-exempt arm of Phyt Gym founded by Jonas Serrano and co-founded by Elana Margulies-Snyderman that educates youth and communities in New York City, Puerto Rico and the U.S. (virtually) through fitness. Our hearts go out to everyone that was impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic. During these challenging times that no one was immune to, our mission has never been more urgent and we are honored for your support so we can touch more lives through our fitness programs.
Phyt Cares is extremely proud that all the money raised goes directly to the communities we serve since we don't have any employees.
At the beginning of COVID-19, we launched Virtual Phytness classes to empower youth and communities worldwide and our partnerships are still going strong:
- Kool Kids Passaic, a Jewish community organization in Passaic, New Jersey for youth with special needs, sponsored by Crawford Lake Capital Management.
- Chess in the Schools, a New York City-based organization which empowers low-income youth through chess education.
In New York City, we continued our partnership with Issac Newton Middle School in East Harlem, providing fitness programs to 8th graders to get them ready for high school. We also maintained our relationship with YAI, providing fitness programs to young adults with disabilities. We also provided Virtual Phytness training to the YAI community to get them Phyt for their Central Park Challenge, a 4 mile race which takes place every June.
In Puerto Rico, we continued our partnership with El Gimnasio Boxeo La Perla, a boxing organization in San Juan. In addition, through our partnership with El Complejo Correccional Bayamon, we created a program and designed a gym to help empower incarcerated women on the Island and those in need of refuge from domestic violence. Through our own Rooster's Cafe, we have supported the Afro-Puerto Rican community by purchasing their locally sourced produce and coffee beans for patrons to enjoy. Finally, we have continued to create employment for young entrepreneuers and provide them a place to run their businesses.
On behalf of Jonas, Elana and our entire Board of Directors, from the bottom of our hearts, we wanted to thank you for your support.
