Everyone deserves the security of food and shelter. CHUM goes beyond the necessities to also provide dignity and hope through the relationships they build with the people they serve.

I became involved with CHUM after working with Deb Holman, CHUM’s Street Outreach Worker, at the St Louis County Jail. CHUM and Deb are a lifeline for so many individuals leaving our jail. We except anyone released from jail or prison to be able to return to our community and make different choices. Even though it is more likely people are returning to our community with fewer resources and less hope. Getting out of jail with nowhere to go or no one to call is not uncommon. Deb is always willing to make that needed connection with people in need, no matter their circumstance. CHUM is that safety net on which our community relies.
