About Hays Coalition for a Better Bond SPAC

What? Hays County $440M Road Bond in November 2024?

If you have no idea what's in the proposed $440 million Hays Road Bond, you are not alone. The bond package was hatched in secret—thrown on the ballot at the last minute—with almost no notice and no public participation in shaping the bond package.

We Say NO Now, and YES to Later.

Hays County residents SAY NO to Prop A which spends hundreds of millions to build new roads to support land development in Western Hays, threatening the quality and availability of our groundwater.

We need a “Better Bond” that would:

  • Include community involvement, planning and feedback.
  • NOT raise taxes without community input.
  • Follow a community-driven plan for growth.
  • Protect sensitive natural areas.
  • NOT risk destroying our aquifers and depleting local wells.
  • Prioritize safety issues and intersection improvements.
  • Pay for roads residents want and need.
  • NOT pave the way to nowhere.
  • Fix existing roads and bridges that are failing.
  • Include public transportation.
  • Be truly equitable across the county.
  • Prioritize investments in Eastern Hays roads.
  • Enhance what we love about the Hill Country, not pave it over.

Just vote “NO! Thank you” to this $440 tax burden, and let's have a citizen-backed bond vote in 2025.
