MISSION: 'PAWS'-IBLE is the largest fundraiser of the year for GMHS, and it is vital to supporting the Society’s mission to save lives, eliminate animal suffering and to increase human compassion.
Every purchase or donation you make will go directly to helping animals and people in our community. To give you an idea of how incredibly expensive it is to save lives, the cost of medicine and supplies for one year at the Shelter is over $200,000, and it costs more than $40,000 a year just to keep the lights and heat on!
Last year GMHS helped 3,500 animals. It provided safe housing, nutritious food, medical care, and enrichment as needed -- this year we are on track to help more than 4,000 animals. Whether they are with us because they are lost, abandoned, injured, or ill, every animal receives all the loving attention they need for as long as they need. This includes medical care and behavioral training for animals who need extra help before being adopted.
In addition to the direct support of animals, GMHS helps people in our community. Currently our Pet Pantry assistance program provides pet food and supplies to 143 families struggling to keep food in the bowls of their four-legged family members, and our Fixin’ to Save Spay/Neuter Clinic has provided a record number of 4,100 low-cost spay/neuter surgeries!
GMHS partners with over 30 guaranteed adoption shelters across the country (and it’s always looking for more partners) to give homeless pets a Highway to Home!
Your Sponsorships and auction item donations also will support our humane education program which teaches compassion and respect for all animals; ensuring that our next generation shares our passion and commitment to caring for animals.
