The average yearly cost to support a single CASA volunteer is $1500. Our goal is to find 60 people who will donate $25 per month to help us help children in need.
About the Campaign
CASA of Autauga and Chilton County is a nonprofit organization that recruits, trains, and supports community volunteers who provide advocacy for children in the Autauga and Chilton County foster care system.
When children experience abuse and neglect, they need a caring adult who will be in their corner. We invite you to join us in serving the most vulnerable children in our community by donating, so more children can receive the care and advocacy of a CASA volunteer.
Give today. Give children hope for a brighter tomorrow. Change a Child's Story.
In one hour a CASA volunteer can show up for a child in a new placement to give them comfort, research available services to help them heal and thrive, or speak up for their best interest in the courtroom. One hour can make a lasting impact in a child's life.
In one month, a CASA volunteer will spend time with the child to build trust. They will speak to teachers, therapists, and others involved in the child's care to make sure their needs are being met. In one month, a CASA will attend an ISP meeting on the child's behalf, speaking up for what they believe is in the child's best interest. One month of advocacy provides the building blocks of consistent care every child should have as they navigate foster care.
In 3 months a CASA volunteer will visit the child approximately 3 times, support them in their interests and activities, communicate with people involved in the child's life, and submit a thorough court report for the judge to review. A CASA will attend court on behalf of the child, giving a judge their perspective on the child and their situation so they can make decisions in a child's best interest.
In one year, a CASA volunteer will attend approximately 3 ISP meetings, visit the child approximately 12 times and will advocate for their best interest at 2 court hearings. They will log approximately 60 hours of advocacy and time spent with the child as they cross the typical halfway mark of the child's case. For many children, their CASA will be the most consistent caring adult in their life over the course of a year. CASA volunteers become one of the few people they know they can count on to be by their side.
