At Beat 4 Beat, our mission is to develop confidence and community for underserved youth in Central Texas through after-school music education. Our classes, taught by local musicians, are inspired by students’ interests, providing opportunities for expression and empowerment.

Who We Are:

Beat 4 Beat is an Austin-based nonprofit offering after-school music classes to underserved students in low-income schools. We provide local musicians with well-paying side jobs, mentoring and teaching classes in music, production, and songwriting. Responding to students' interests, we’ve even developed a podcast production curriculum.

For the past decade, Beat 4 Beat has been a constant presence in Austin ISD, Del Valle ISD, and other after-school programs. Our teachers and staff have built lasting relationships with students and their families, returning each year to familiar faces and eager new learners.

Why We Need Your Help:

School districts have historically funded our programs through federal grants, but changing budgets post-pandemic mean many can no longer afford these essential after-school activities. Our goal is to fully fund our programs so that no student or school is ever charged program fees again.

Our programs are more than just music lessons. They offer students a safe space for creative self-expression, with significant mental and emotional health benefits. Our classes have been shown to reduce recidivism rates in students by more than 90%.

How You Can Make a Difference:

Without support, many students might face a year without the joy of making music with our teachers and performing at our end-of-year showcase concert. Your contribution can change that.

• $8 a Month: Helps maintain essential supplies and resources for our classes.
• $25 a Month: Supports the full cost of a student’s participation in our program.
• $99 a Month: Sponsors an entire class for a month, impacting multiple students.

Our Impact:

Each Beat 4 Beat after-school class costs approximately $5,000 per school year. We typically serve about 40-50 classes across 20 school campuses each year. Additionally, we partner with educational and community centers like the Jewish Community Center, YMCA locations, and groups of homeschool students.
