Who we are:
bbatx (#bossbabesATX) is a low-pressure learning community, celebrating women and nonbinary creative leaders in Texas. Homegrown in Austin, we cultivate multidimensional, multicultural, multi-industry spaces of support. According to our research, when we have access to helpful networks, mentorship, inclusion, visibility and confidence, we do our best work. So, from our markets and festivals, to our conferences and membership, we create spaces where the community can:
- explore creative and entrepreneurial approaches to work
- learn new skills (from design-thinking to financial self-care to inclusive leadership)
- connect to underrepresented creatives, small business owners and leaders
- share stories and seek professional guidance
- discover friends, collaborators and mentors
How we responded to COVID-19 in 2020:
In 2020, due to the pandemic, our community has been hard-hit, from navigating layoffs to the loss of their small businesses to our collective mental health. In response, we've done what we do best — share resources and make space. Since March 15, we have:
- distributed 1000's of digital entrepreneurial, financial and mental health resources for artists, leaders and entrepreneurs in Texas
- connected 150+ women-owned companies impacted by COVID to new clients and customers
- provided more than $20,000 in commissions and grants to women and LGBTQ+ creatives and small businesses in the Texas South
We'll need your help to continue our work in 2021.
We’ve had to postpone the majority of our in-person programs (and nonprofits like ours will be in the last group of businesses able to reopen), so we’ve lost 50% of our typical revenue.
With your support, we can:
- Cover our monthly rent: $1350
- Cover our monthly subcontractor costs to keep our programs alive: $6500
- Cover our monthly administrative costs for technology + web hosting: $1,000
- Cover the cost of our paid opportunities for women and nonbinary creatives and small businesses: $7000
- Cover the hard costs of supplies and materials to produce our programs and provide services: $5000
Donate by December 31 to support our recovery through 2021. Thank you for helping us stay open this year. ❤️
PS: You can also help our mission by telling people about what we do. We believe representation, intersectionality and access to education creates resilient leaders and communities. Learn more at bossbabes.org
