Your donation to the Academic Teams Wishlist Item will support Bell School's middle school students (6th through 8th grade) in their award-winning competitive team programs. These programs include: Future Problem Solvers, Bell School Debate, Science Olympiad, Lego Robotics, Math Counts, and Future City.
In these programs our students refine and display their critical thinking skills, research and formulate their positions, discuss cutting edge topics and policies, and develop solutions and plans of attack.
Some additional information about each of these programs:
- Future Problem Solvers is a statewide, national, and international competitive program in which students research specified topics, gather information, produce unique solution ideas, and develop action plans. Topics that have been explored include: Healthy Living, Genetic Testing, Water Quality, Robotic Age, and Megacity. For more information please explore Future Problem Solvers International's webpage.
- Bell Debate began in 2017 to give middle school students an opportunity to engage in policy debate. Bell Debate joins schools from every corner of Chicago to examine in depth an important issue involving our society.
- Science Olympiad is a competitive teamwork competition in which students prepare for events involving genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering, and technology. For more information read more at Science Olympiad's website.
- Future City is a "project based learning program where students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future. Learn more at https://futurecity.org/.
