This sweet item is here because a local congregation bought them from an NGO that takes yarn to refugee camps so that the people can knit to earn income for their families while they await a place to call home (again). The local congregation that bought them...brought them to VOR to be used to "help refugees." We bring these blankets out tonight so that you can bid on these PRICELESS items...symbols and reminders that we can make a difference for refugees all over the globe, but start here through VOR. This clever, vintage basket holds Alishan High Mountain Oolong Tea was brought to us by a missionary in Taiwan. Also included is Yorkshire Breakfast Tea (40 bags), an antique Japanese clay teapot* (See note below.), miniature tea cup and saucer (perfect for oolong or whole leaf green teas), Tea strainer, chinese style teapot and cups set, and "personal" airtight container. "Rosie Philiips who gave us this teapot from the 1960's was in a Japanese interment camp during WW2 as a baby. She gave this because she knows how things can get hard in life. She continues to pray for displaced people worldwide and is a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Downey, CA. |
