An exciting fundraiser to support the Museum of Chincoteague Island's desire to rebuild the iconic barn at the Beebe Ranch

The Museum of  Chincoteague Island was incredibily fortunate last year to have thousands of people help fundraise to save the iconic Beebe Ranch from being purchased by developers. This was followed by the museum taking on the responsibility of restoring the home and preparing it for future visitation. The museum committed to paying for those improvements with our own resources through events and fundrasing.  Then another stroke of luck, the museum received a grant for $50,000 from the Eastern Shore of Virginia Community Foundation to help cover some of the costs. While that restoration is underway, the museum would like to start planning for the rebuilding of a barn on the property. The Misty Barn which was used by Misty and her foals, unfortuntely burned down in July of 2019 after decades of use. This barn was used as a backdrop in several of artist Wesley Dennis' illustrations and was visited by thousands of friends of Misty over the years. We are excited to say that this online auction will be the first of many fundraisers to raise the much needed funds.

The artwork included in this auction uses the cedar siding from the Beebe Ranch that was carefully removed during renovation. Historic signs from the Beebe Ranch were used as the inspiration for the images on the shingles, then each piece was completed by adding a hanger or shadow box frame. No two pieces are alike. Artwork can be picked up at the museum or arrangements should be made for shipping by August 15th. The museum phone number si 757-336-6117
