About HOPE'S IN

HOPE'S IN NFP's mission is to empower families living in Guatemala City and develop the next generation of humanitarian leaders. We empower Guatemalan families by defending their rights to shelter, education and healthcare. This is done by building homes, investing in local tutoring programs, and financially supporting and volunteering at local health clinics. More specifically we seek to empower populations within Guatemala that are most vulnerable to repeating the cycle of poverty in their family. Therefore we focus on serving marginalized communities, teen mothers, and persons with disabilities.

The development of humanitarian leaders is done through both international service trip opportunities and local volunteer programs such as our HOPE’S INternship program and Hope’s In Academy (HIA). The HIA is a service learning and leadership development program at Barrington High School sponsored by the Barrington Area Community Foundation. These volunteer opportunities give students and adults a unique perspective of the world that allows them to enhance their skills as a leader in a global narrative.

$10 Support the HOPE'S INterns Program

This program empowers students with the mentorship and opportunities to learn about nonprofit organization management, leadership, fundraising and global impact.

Each year about 25 students are selected to participate in our HOPE’S INternship Program. Students represent 3 various schools within the Chicagoland area and meet twice a month to carry out various projects to advance our mission. Their main project is organizing and implementing our fashion show fundraise, Hope’s in Style. This fundraiser brings together hundreds of guests, engages local businesses, and involves over 100 student volunteers each year.
