Female Buddy Check

About the Group

Here at WarriorNOW we host events and education for veterans to connect with each other and learn more about mental health and recovery. We have received quite a few requests for an all-female 'buddy check' call. This will be a once/week virtual drop-in group and the format will be exactly the same as our current Buddy Check, which is a peer-led support group via Zoom where we find camaraderie and connection amongst other veterans around mental health and recovery. This is not a therapy group or a processing group - it is loosely structured and supportive. One week we might be giggling about something ridiculous and the next week we might be encouraging a fellow group member through a difficult time. You can show up to be a support to others or you can show up needing support because life can be a rollercoaster and we all go through phases. Attend every week or only when you need the extra support, totally up to you. This group starts Thursday, August 11th at 1900 and will be every Thursday evening.

While Tiffany Morgan will initially be facilitating this group, WarriorNOW is looking for someone to facilitate it on an on-going basis. This is a paid position ($25/hour, 1-2 hours/week) and does require some upfront training. I will be looking for someone who is compassionate with good boundaries and a broad understanding of what it means to lean into the discomfort, do the hard work, gain the insight, and move forward a better person - someone who can embrace the suck while also validating their own and others' experiences.

Facilitator Bio

Tiffany Morgan, the Director of Training at WarriorNOW, endeavors to be a bridge between veterans and mental health. She comes from a long line of military service on both sides of her family, which led her to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1997-2001 as an Aviation Ordnanceman. After leaving active duty she married a fellow Sailor and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Psychology, which she has been using in the community mental health field for close to 15 years, and specifically within the veteran community for over 5 years. She has been volunteering with the Colorado Veteran Treatment Courts for 6 years. Tiffany also works to bridge the military-civilian divide through her small business, Your Weapon is Your Mind, where she teaches civilian treatment providers about military culture so as to improve competence and trust within the treatment relationship.
