TNA D9 Volunteer Opportunities 2023-2024

Dear TNA D9 members:

You elected an extraordinary set of officers and Board of Directors members for 2023-24.  This group of remarkable professionals are intelligent, gifted and very committed to serving you in their roles.  The Board of Directors needs your help to promote standards of nursing practice, education, and services and serve as the voice of nursing in the coming up legislative session.  We are inviting you to serve in one or more of the following committees and do your part to contribute to our wonderful profession.  We need members of each committee listed.  Your contributions will make a big difference for Nursing.

Membership Committee

 

Promotes engagement and development of membership by:

  • Promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging among members;
  • Advising on public relations activities by contributing content to TNA D9 website and social media platforms; 
  • Providing a channel of communication for sharing ideas, experiences and planning for further enrichment of the programs and services of the organization for its membership.

Professional Development Committee
  • Identifies professional practice gaps and conduct environmental scanning to curate content for on-demand CNE and live educational activities for the district.
  • Find TNA D9 members to volunteer their time and expertise on CNE offerings; participating in design and development of activities. 
  • Evaluate and analyze post-activity evaluations to develop and improve future educational opportunities.

Nursing Celebration Committee

 

  • Assess effectiveness of previous celebrations and ongoing improvement in the functions of the celebration/gala
  • Recommend new awards; establish criteria for evaluation candidates and nomination.
  • Research available state and national awards for which TNA member nurses could be nominated.
  • Solicit nominations and identify potential awardees. Assist candidates with nomination application.
  • Plan and conduct the celebration/gala in professional manner and raise funds to meet the purposes of the Foundation via several subcommittees

Audit Finance Committee

 

  • Review external audit reports and internal controls as well as the budget and financial statements
  • Review the conflict of interest policies and existing and newly drafted finance policies
  • Provide oversight of the TNA Scholarship and Research grant funds

Bylaws/Standing Operations Committee

 

  • Interpret the TNA and TNA D9 bylaws and prepare proposed amendments to the TNA bylaws
  • Maintain conformity of TNA D9 bylaws with the state organization’s bylaws
  • Prepare proposed operational procedures for TNA D9 bylaws
  • Collaborate with TNA Bylaws committee chair to assure conformity with TNA policies, procedures, and practices

Government Affairs Committee

 

  • Provide input for TNA representative during the legislative session.
  • Engage local leaders with TNA and D9 policy positions and serve as a resource to legislators and public officials
  • Support governmental and political affairs and activities in TNA D9 at the local level directly and through liaisons.
  • Recommend legislators to the TEXAS NURSE PAC Board for recognition as a TNA Legislator Champion.
