RESERVE This item has a reserve of $450. If the reserve is not met, the item will not be awarded.   LISTING DETAILS Watercolor, colored pencil, ink, liquid acrylic and marker on 140lb Montval watercolor paper, 21x21 inches, framed.   THE TREASURE DRAWING SERIES  "My Treasure Drawing series tries to capture the tactile and emotional experience of rummaging through my mom's jewelry box when I was a child in the 1980s.  It felt like a treasure hunt sorting through and untangling chains, rings, and brooches, all of varying monetary and nostalgic value. The compositions are loosely symmetrical, like faces, and the page is a visual container for the prized keepsakes. The arrangements are also reminiscent of the way I collected and organized figurines in display cases or stickers in sticker books as a way to hang onto and protect the meaningful objects in my life. As with all of my work, the Treasure Drawings were made using stream-of-consciousness and improvisation and incorporate recognizable symbols like chains, roses, jazz hands, knots and bows."   ARTIST BIO Julie Alpert is an installation artist currently based in Tulsa. This theme is most evident in what I consider my primary craft, which makes use of 3D printing to create aerial habitats for plants and visiting fauna, though it indirectly extends to every medium I employ.
