2023 Taste For Hope

Help Save Lives and bring HOPE to those affected by suicide

UPDATE

We understand that the weather may be an issue, but we remain steadfast in our commitment to the event. We kindly request your attendance, whether rain or shine, and we encourage everyone to dress appropriately. This is a semi-casual event, and we recommend wearing XTRATUFFS or other rain/mud boots. We will have a limited supply of ponchos and coverings for the stage, auction, and food items.

Thank you for your flexibility and cooperation. We look forward to seeing you soon.

About The Taste For Hope

The Taste for Hope started as a third-party fundraiser to benefit the chapter in June 2019. Hosted at the private residence of Don and Chris Graves in Eagle River, Alaska — about 20 minutes north of Anchorage, the event is centered on bringing people together for suicide prevention through food and wine pairings and a silent auction in the great outdoors. Don joined the Alaska Chapter’s Board of Directors in 2021 and said he wanted to create Taste for Hope in honor of his friend and winemaker, Eric Dunham, who died by suicide in 2014.

Each year, the chapter teams up with wineries, winemakers from the Pacific Northwest and California, and Alaska seafood purveyors to create an experience to raise awareness and critical funds to fight suicide in Alaska.

Tom Glasse, owner of Balboa Winery and suicide loss survivor, partnered with the Graves to support the chapter by providing exclusive wines for the event. Traveling from Walla Walla, Washington, Tom’s delivery of VIP tableside service sets the Taste for Hope apart from any other culinary gala in the state.

Together with support from local volunteers, the Taste for Hope has become a prestigious event that gives people the courage to open up about their connections to the cause and a platform to create a smarter culture about mental health. Friends, family members, neighbors, and coworkers raise a glass, supporting each other in memory of those we’ve lost.

This year we have added a special gift for our guests. Guests joining us for the 2023 Taste For Hope will each receive a commemorative wine glass to mark the occasion. Cheers!
