Being in the board of directors for Herizon Music Foundation has opened my eyes to how we need to support women in music - whether they are writers, musicians, vocalists, or audio & lighting technicians.
Herizon Music Foundation is offering a unique service called Random Acts of Music that connects female artists with virtual event hosts for paid gigs. After 12 months of live music venues “going dark” (and many closing all together) due to COVID-19, women in music are more than ready to work!
“It’s been devastating watching friends and colleagues in the music industry fall on such hard times." says Thea Wood, Founder of Herizon Foundation.
Did you know that women are historically under-represented on stage, with studies showing that female and female-fronted bands made up only 12% on average of major music festival acts between 2013 and 2018. COVID-19 made matters worse and women were disproportionately affected as they stayed home to care for loved ones. This year, 25% claim they don’t know where their next dollar will come from and one third say they are in a mental health crisis.
This Tuesday, November 30, your donation will be matched and goes toward expanding this program so we can grow a national network of artists and hosts/sponsors. In doing so, we can enhance our hosts’ events and help female artists weather the storm and take their careers to the next level through the power of technology. Please donate today and help me reach my $1000 goal!
In gratitude,
Christine Greeneisen
