Help us raise some DOUGH for a new oven!

Findlay Kitchen is in desperate need of a new bakery oven (a $50,000 piece of equipment!) since losing our current oven to mechanical failure. Our oven was our baking workhorse - a roll-in rack oven that could bake 12 full sheet trays at a time. It was a game-changer for bakers that allowed them to not only double or triple their current bakeoff volume, but to do so in less than half the time as a standard oven. These significant increases in efficiency and production are a big part of how start up food businesses can start to get their head above water, allowing them more critical time for them to sell and market their goods. Additionally, without this bakery oven, significant strain is being put on our two production kitchen spaces, as overflow mounts. These two production kitchens are already in peak demand as they support all of the rest of our catering and food production businesses with cooking needs.
 

More than just an oven, Findlay Kitchen’s need for a high capacity bakery oven is a direct line of support for new and existing bakers. Food entrepreneurship is such an important entry point and lifeline for many marginalized communities. Very specifically, baking, is one of the most accessible starting places for food entrepreneurship due to 1) the comparatively lower cost of ingredients vs meals or proteins, 2) customer familiarity of baked goods and willingness to try culturally unique variations, and 3) relaxed licensing regulations (often no license required) for selling baked goods at farmers markets under Cottage Law.
 

Findlay Kitchen is a place for food entrepreneurs, specifically BIPOC, women and immigrant entrepreneurs, to dream big,
