Charity Dinner Benefiting Protez Foundation

During the Dinner on February 22 our supporters will be able to Meet and Greet Group #17 - our first group of 2024 receiving prosthetics, listen to updates from the Protez Foundation Team and enjoy a full blown Brazilian Steakhouse dinner at Fogo De Chao conveniently located in downtown Minneapolis.

While we have helped 135 Ukrainians, we have 1500 applications waiting for their turn.  In 2024 we plan on serving 270 Ukrainians. We currently don't have secured funding to reach our goals. With your support they will have a chance to receive state of the art prosthetics and rehabilitation. This is important for restoring their quality of life and hope for a better future.

Dated and signed by the special unit Omega commander.    Generously donated by retired US Army Captain Matt Boben.    Russia’s capture of Avdiivka in February 2024, a strategic and now almost entirely destroyed city located about 15 miles from the Russian-occupied regional capital of Donetsk, was Moscow’s most significant territorial victory since it seized Bakhmut last May. “The era of peace in Europe is over,” Dmytro Kuleba, Ukrainian foreign minister, spoke at the Munich Security Conference. “And every time Ukrainian soldiers withdraw from a Ukrainian town because of the lack of ammunition, think of it not only in terms of democracy and defending the world-based order, but also in terms of Russian soldiers getting a few kilometres closer to your towns.”

This one of the kind Ukrainian flag signed by Antytila in Chicago and all the soldiers from the Protez Foundation that attended their concert in the fall of 2023. As a bonus, the winner will receive a signed book by Ludmyla Horova “I sow in your eyes”. Her poem with this title became a very powerful song of resistance.   Own a part of history! Antytila, a legendary Ukrainian band toured the USA and Canada last fall giving concerts to gather funds for 10,000 Individual First Aid Kits (IFAK) for Ukrainian defenders. The band invited soldiers receiving prosthetics at the Protez Foundation to attend their performances in Detroit, Chicago and San Francisco. In Chicago, one of the soldiers, Serhiy Railian, inspired by the mission of the band, donated his paratrooper beret (the most cherished part of the uniform) to be auctioned off in support of the IFAK fund. Serhiy survived a devastating mine explosion because he received a good IFAK set from volunteers. His selfless act enthused two prominent businessmen from the Chicago community to contribute $20,000 total toward IFAK purchase and to return the beret to its owner. The crowd cheered and our hero was beaming with happiness because his act of kindness ensured survival of 400 soldiers on the front lines of the fight with the evil. There is no doubt Ukraine will win with such selfless heroes and people around the world willing to support them!

16x20 metal print Two Harbors Breakwater Light 1/10/2022   Jamie Juenemann is a full-time biologist and aspiring landscape and wildlife photographer from Two Harbors, Minnesota.  After taking his first photography class at the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1991, he has been sharing his photographs throughout the region ever since.  Growing up on the North Shore of Lake Superior, Juenemann says he is constantly inspired by the beauty of the Big Lake and the surrounding landscape.  Though this beauty spans all four seasons, he says winter is by far his favorite.  The harsh conditions created by bitter cold, snow, and wind test both the humans and the wildlife that live there.  The big ships that carry cargo to and from Duluth are a favorite subject.   This fundraiser has special meaning to the Juenemann family as they hosted a young man from Ukraine for the 2010-2011 school year.  Bohdan quickly became a part of the family and they have remained very close ever since.  That bond has grown even stronger after the broader Russian invasion on February 24, 2022.  Texts and chats have become a part of the daily routine to make sure, as any parent would, that he and his family are safe.  It is with great pride and honor that Jamie donates these prints to the Protez Foundation to support the amazing work they are doing to help those injured by senseless war and destruction in Ukraine.  Slava Ukraini! Alina Madan was born in Ukraine in 1984 and moved to the US in 2006 to work on her MBA. At school, she learned finance and economics, but in her free time, Alina had a passion for art and taught herself all about painting. Her original oil paintings are created exclusively with a palette knife, bare fingers, a piece of cloth and sometimes a brush.    The most feedback on her art she gets includes words like “peaceful” and “calming”. She projects her painting to be a rest-your-mind resort, tranquil and undisturbed by anybody or anything. Her subject matter tends to be water-related, either ocean or sea themes or rainy motifs and puddles on the streets.  Nature’s charm and beauty inspire her works.   The 2014 16*24 original oil painting on stretched canvas  “The Wave”  is part of a series of paintings reflecting the enchanting dance between light and water. Each stroke captures and crystallizes extraordinary moments of joy. https://www.facebook.com/Alina.Madan.Art
