Due to Covid this year, we have had to cancel our annual fundraiser, Wine Women and Shoes, which is such a wonderful event for our library and community. In its place, we are hosting Literature and Libations to give our community another opportunity to support the library foundation. I am a Board member of the Muscogee County Library Foundation and have always had a passion for libraries and reading, so I volunteered to be a Page Turner to help with this fundraising.

I am raising money to honor the memory of my dear friend Jo McDaniel who passed away in September of pancreatic cancer. She was a staunch supporter of the library and attended many events over the years, and especially loved the opportunity to meet different writers who came to the Gala each year. She has many friends and a nephew who are authors and I always felt that she really would love to have written a book herself. She would have had much to write about in her wonderful 86 years of life. To be diagnosed with a terminal illness in a year with this Covid virus is truly heartbreaking for those people who had to shelter in place like Jo and were not allowed to have visitors. Because she was an avid reader, she would read about five books a week and I am sure that it transported her to many places that she was no longer able to visit and met many new characters/people thru her reading.

Support your favorite Page Turner and support our local library. All donations will help the Muscogee County Library Foundation continue to carry out their mission of allowing the public libraries to remain relevant, including several Library staff positions, e-book collection, online resources, and programs. The Page Turner who raises the most funds between now and November 12th will win a huge post-COVID hug and, of course, a wonderful gift basket.
