Women in music are ready to work... So are we

My stepmom founded this nonprofit to help women in music and I have seen how hard it is for women in music to make a living. This new booking service is something that I really stand behind and I'm hoping that you can donate to help expand the program!

Are you a music lover who wants to help women forge a career path to merit-based success? Herizon Music Foundation is doing just that, and we’d love for you to join our band of dreamers, rule breakers, and rockstars. Together, we are on a mission to raise $15,000 in our year-end fundraising campaign.

Herizon Music Foundation is offering a unique service called Random Acts of Music that connects female artists with virtual event hosts for paid gigs. After 12 months of live music venues “going dark” (and many closing all together) due to COVID-19, women in music are more than ready to work!

“It’s been devastating watching friends and colleagues in the music industry fall on such hard times. How can you be optimistic or a good caregiver if you can’t pay the bills,” says founder Thea Wood. “Women already faced an upward battle in getting show bookings, so the pandemic rubbed salt into an already open wound."

Women are historically under-represented on stage, with studies showing that female and female-fronted bands made up only 12% on average of major music festival acts between 2013 and 2018.  COVID-19 made matters worse and women were disproportionately affected as they stayed home to care for loved ones. This year, 25% claim they don’t know where their next dollar will come from and one third say they are in a mental health crisis.

Random Acts of Music matches companies, associations, nonprofits, and special interest groups to female artists who reflect their tastes and brands so they can enhance their virtual meeting/event experience. During RAM's startup phase, we’ve paid eight artists to perform for events that have been sponsored by Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Kendra Scott, Giving Out Loud, more. The positive impact is tangible and immediate.

Your donation goes toward expanding this program so we can grow a national network of artists and hosts/sponsors. In doing so, we enhance our hosts’ events and help female artists weather the storm and take their careers to the next level through the power of technology. Please donate today and help us reach our $15,000 goal!

In gratitude,
Thea Wood, President
