| Beautifully matted in a wood frame, this photograph of Brunswick's famed Oglethorpe Hotel evokes the atmosphere of a bygone era. A great addition to any collection or as a standalone piece, this Zibe King, Jr., donated photograph wonderfully pays homage to this grant old hotel. A famous hotel in Brunswick, Georgia, the grant Oglethorpe Hotel was a three-story brick building one block long on Newcastle Street. Ranked with the best hotels on the continent, the Oglethorpe was an attractive example of turreted and gabled. When it opened in January 1888, it was declared one of the best resort hotels in this region. The Oglethorpe offered regular planned entertainment to the delight of guests and locals. An icon of a bygone era, the magnificent Oglethorpe Hotel was demolished in 1959 and salvaged materials used in buildings elsewhere.
