Thank you for signing up to volunteer with HomeAid Austin at Caritas! By volunteering your time, passion, and skills, you are helping us relieve homelessness in Austin together.
Community Kitchen volunteers will prepare food for lunch service, serve lunch to community members, and clean the kitchen and dining areas following the service. Volunteers are expected to behave in a positive, kind, and respectful manner towards all community members and clients! For more details, view the documnet here: Community Kitchen Volunteer Packet 2023.pdf.
Parking: We recommend carpooling! There is metered street parking on Neches that is $2-4/hour. You can pay at the meters or through the Park ATX mobile app. There is also a paid lot right across the street.
Dress Code: Caritas requires volunteers working in the Community Kitchen to be suitably dressed for each shift. Required Attire: Jeans or long pants, t-shirts, and closed-toed shoes. Unacceptable Attire: Sandals, flip-flops, shorts, or tank stops are not allowed. Volunteers who come dressed unsuitably will be required to change clothes before being allowed to volunteer in the Community Kitchen. Hat or Hair Net: All individuals must wear a hat or hair net. Long hair must be secured away from face, tied up with a rubber band. Apron and hairnet will be provided. Please bring a hat if you would prefer not to wear a hair net.
