Acrylic, 14" x 17", by artist Lorraine Caposieno. "I originally attended The American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois, and later studied with Dominic Vignola of Oak Park, Romel de la Torre, Tom Henrichsen, and Thia Malenchik of Palatine. I am a former member and Program Director of the Elk Grove Village Art League. I currently teach a class called Afternoon Oils at the Elk Grove Village Park District. Winner of several awards by the Elk Grove Village Juried Art Shows and various exhibits. I put my art aside for many years while I raised my daughters and worked outside my home. Later as a “reluctant retiree” I went back to painting. I find it rewarding in so many ways, as well as being “therapeutic”. My husband and I have traveled through Italy extensively so many of my paintings of the Tuscan countryside and various cities, come from photos taken during those trips. Coming home to make paintings of my photos has allowed me to relive those parts of the trips that were so meaningful. I trust that my appreciation for the art of the old masters, and my love of painting will influence each of my six amazing grandkids." |

Acrylic on Canvas, 36" x 48", by artist John Powell. Powell is a local artist and part of the prestigious Southport Artist Commune, a living and creative space dedicated to the free expression and community appreciation of art. Powell has most recently finished a long-term artistic experiment to test the correlation between unexpected dopamine release and openness to experience entitled “Expressions of Gratitude” “C’est la vie” holds a special place in the artist’s heart. It was produced via a specialized method of gravitational mixture; combining different viscosities at several angles over several hours. Importantly, the preparation and completion of the piece was completed in one, 8 hour sitting. A continuous motion of creation, exploration, destruction, and recreation. Though reminiscent of Pollack neo-expressionism, this piece does not a semblance of meaning. It is a criticism of our storytelling instinct and an indictment of creating meaning from randomness. But, such is life. |

Acrylic, 8" x 11", by artist John Powell. Powell is a local artist and part of the prestigious Southport Artist Commune, a living and creative space dedicated to the free expression and community appreciation of art. Powell has most recently finished a long-term artistic experiment to test the correlation between unexpected dopamine release and openness to experience entitled “Expressions of Gratitude” This piece is entitled “Giacomo”. It’s namesake refers to the notorious rake Giacomo Cassanova. It is the result of hundreds on small layers of paint, carefully marbled, scraped, and mixed directly on the canvas. It is inspired by the semi-random whorls popularized by Chaoticians such as Benoit Mandelbrot and Nassim Taleb. At its heart, the piece inspires contrasts of seduction. Of both the attraction as well as repulsion that motivates our very behavior at all times. |

Multi-media Acrylic on Canvas, 24" x 36", by artist John Powell. Powell is a local artist and part of the prestigious Southport Artist Commune, a living and creative space dedicated to the free expression and community appreciation of art. Powell has most recently finished a long-term artistic experiment to test the correlation between unexpected dopamine release and openness to experience entitled “Expressions of Gratitude” Futuro-romanticist, “Muir at Dawn” captures a fleeting impression of a Sequoia seen at first light when the world is both its most peaceful but also its most serene. This piece is the result of gravitational pouring, ochre- spraying, and is sartorially sacred-geometric. Enigmatic at its heart, it asks the viewer to participate in the very construction of shape and dimension - from line to form. |

Mixed Media Painting, 17" x 21" framed, by artist Gino Savarino. Gino is a local professional artist. You can discover his art at https://verybigart.com/ "I create raw energy on canvas through texture, color and imagination inspired by nature, old and weathered found objects like a rusted piece of metal or crackling peeling paint. I do not approach a canvas with preconceived ideas. Once I place the brush in my hand, it takes a life of its own. I paint spontaneously and fast without restrictions. All the rules and guidelines I've been taught, go out the window and I create the indescribable. I concentrate on the technique and not the final result. Once I'm out of energy, the piece is complete." |
