Situation: The Grand Canyon Council, in order to fulfill its financial obligation to the National Boy Scout class action lawsuit, is needing to sell Camp Geronimo. Without any outside intervention, it is likely that the land that Camp Geronimo resides on will be sold to developers, which would certainly mean the end of Camp Geronimo as a summer camp.
Vision: To continue to provide youth of all ages with an amazing summer camp experience, and to preserve the land Camp Geronimo resides on. We would also like to provide support for victims of sexual assault.
Goals:
- To raise at least 5 million dollars to purchase Camp Geronimo from the Grand Canyon Council, and cover initial operating costs and expenses.
- To establish a summer camp program that is open to various youth organizations, continuing the tradition of providing youth with essential life skills and fulfilling adventures in a safe and welcoming environment.
- To donate a week or two each summer specifically for organizations supporting victims of sexual assault. Allowing them a healthy and safe environment to heal and recover.
It is our most fervent desire to protect Camp Geronimo, thus allowing future generations to have the opportunities we had and loved in our own youths. However, in the event we are unable to raise enough funds to purchase the camp, the money raised will instead go to organizations that support victims of sexual assault and that provide youth with development opportunities.
