WHO ARE WE?
Chapter Level: Chapter 125 is located in Corpus Christi, TX. Membership represents Corpus Christi Army Depot, NAVFAC, Aviation Maintenance Engineers, Brooks Army Medical Center, and most recently, NAS-Kingsville.
OUR MISSION: To actively engage, through selfless service, with our community, region and national levels.
- In 2023, Chapter 125 President was recognized by the FMA National Executive Board and awarded the President's Award in recognition of our Chapter's outstanding leadership and service to its facility, agency, community and nation during the year 2022.
- Coats 4 Coats: Membership jackets were awarded in exchange for donated coats. Participants donated adult, youth and childeren's jackets and coats. Donations are scheduled for distribution December 2023 benefiting Puple Door and the Good Samaritan.
- Operation Christmas Spirit continues and will be evolving into "Just Because" in 2024. The tradition to visit Nursing homes, singing and gifting residents our time and personalized gifts continues. The December fenceline will be diminishing soon, opening up opportunity to schedule visitation and active events during the year!
- STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing sums up the essence of our members roles as federal employees. FMA members continue to devote their time in participating in science demonstrations and work as science fair judges at local and regional science fairs around the Coastal Bend.
Regional Level:
- Current Chapter 125 President serves as Region 3 Director having 16 Chapters across the region that extends 4 time zones from Hawaii to Ohio!
- Current Chapter 125 Secretary serves as Region 3 Secretary.
- Chapter 125 hosted the Region 3 and 4 2022 Conference in Las Vegas. The location and venue was strategically selected generating a significant cost reduction and exemplinary attendance. The attendees were provided leadership training, Chapter management training, strategic action planning and Region collaborations to strengthen mission, goals and the needs of our federal employees. Attendees included National Executive Government Affairs, Mr. G. Stanford.
National Level: Est. 1913 - The oldest and largest association representing the interests of 200,000 managers, executives, supervisors, leaders, and federal employees serving in today's federal government.
Current Chapter 125 President, Region 3 Director represents both the Region and our Chapter 125 and serves in the National Board.
Each year, Chapter 125 sends chapter delegates to attend management training and represent our Chapter's voting strength when voting on National changes and advocate for resolutions affecting federal employees.
NATIONAL MISSION: FMA advocates excellence in public service through effective management and professionalism, as well as the active representation of its members' interests and concerns. FMA advances its mission through consultation in the Executive Branch and advocacy in Congress, top-notch professional development programs, informative publications and networking opportunities for its members.
MEMBERSHIP: FMA is the foremost federal employee organization representing the interests of the 200,000 managers, supervisors and executives in the federal government today. Federal employees are found all across the United States - Eligibility for regular membership extends to persons responsible for or associated with the management and supervision of people, programs and resources. At-large, associate, and retiree memberships are also available.
ADVOCACY: FMA actively engages in consultative relationships with top Executive Branch officials across the government as well as advocates to Congress on behalf of its members. FMA's track record includes legislative and regulatory success in: federal management reforms to improve government operations; pay, compensation and benefits; and workforce flexibilities and optimization. FMA's issue agenda addresses: cost effective government restructuring; competitive civil service pay and benefits; and maintaining the core values of the civil service. Advocacy efforts include congressional testimony, agency consultation, grassroots letter campaigns, and media relations. FMA is a member of the Employee Thrift Advisory Council (ETAC), which advises the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board on Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) matters, the FEHB Program Advisory Group (OPM), the Federal-Postal Coalition, the Government Managers Coalition, and the Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund (FEEA) Board. FMA is also involved in department and facility-level partnership councils.
PUBLICATIONS AND INFORMATION: FMA members receive excellent publications and access to a wide range of valuable tools and information. FMA publishes: The Federal Manager, a quarterly e-magazine focusing on current management issues; the Washington Report, an exclusive, monthly e-newsletter detailing the latest developments on Capitol Hill and in the nation's capital; the FMA Grassroots Update, a members-only, monthly e-newsletter advising members of progress on various efforts, and links to action letters for members to send to their elected representatives (the Update is only sent to non-governmental email addresses to avoid Hatch Act violations); Issue Briefs summarizing FMA's policy positions; and legislative action alerts, assisting members in contacting their elected officials in Congress.
The Association’s considerable influence stems from a team approach to advocacy. When lawmakers or agency decision-makers consider proposals that could adversely affect the management of the federal workforce, they quickly realize that TEAM FMA stands together to protect the interests of all its members.
