Thank you for supporting Berkeley Rotary! Your support helps fund scholarships to low-income youth, free health clinics, supportive housing, K-12 education, and climate action.

In the past few years Berkeley Rotary has not been able to do certain fundraising activities—like assisting with the Berkeley Kite Festival—due to COVID restrictions. At the same time, the needs of our community have grown. This auction is designed to “Bridge the Gap” so we can maintain our level of community support. Please bid early and often! Also, please check out the Event Offers (see right column) for events and activities sold by individual tickets.

Note: We will be donating 10% of auction proceeds to Rotary International's Relief Fund to help those in Syria, Turkey, Pakistan, and Ukraine who are suffering from man-made and natural disasters.

$35 Introduction to Tea

This is a 90-minute class with Far Leaves tea master Brad Lebowitz, on April 18, 2023, at 11:00 am, at Far Leaves Tea. Learn about the different ways that tea is processed in different places and how that results in a wide range of tea varieties. You’ll learn the differences between white, green, oolong, black, and puer tea. You’ll learn that roots, herbs, berries, and fruits can be delicious and nutritious but not technically called tea. After you’ve learned all about it, you’ll have time for hands-on enjoyment of a pot of your own.

$60 Pt. Reyes Amble & Oysters

Come for a gentle hike at Pt. Reyes led by Joan Collignon, ending with an oyster supper at Tina Etcheverry’s vacation home. We’ll meet at the Abbott’s Lagoon trailhead on Pierce Pt. Road at 1:00 pm and hike the 3.6 mile (round-trip) flat, sandy trail out though a freshwater marsh to the seemingly endless ocean beach. On the walk back we’ll search for wildflowers, birds, and mammals, returning to our cars hungry for oysters. Tina’s house is just 15 minutes away in Inverness Park, where she’ll greet us on her deck overlooking Tomales Bay with a light supper of oysters, salad, pasta and wine. Limited to 8 guests.  Note: The house is not handicapped-accessible; access is by several steps.

Date: Friday, May 12, 2023, 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Generously donated by Joan Collignon and Tina Etcheverry.

$25 Skyline Garden Sunset Tour

A sunset exploration of Skyline Gardens, Thursday, March 16, 4-7 pm.

Bay Nature Magazine described this magical place, a one-and-a-half mile trail running south from the Tilden Steam Trains, as “a beautiful ridgeline open space, affording sweeping views of Mt. Diablo towering over the inland exurbs. . . ." Berkeley Rotarian Dr. Bob Sorenson, who works with the Skyline Gardens Aliance to restore and maintain this hidden trail near the Tilden Little Train, will be joined by another native plant specialist to help us identify the native plants that they have been nurturing—as well as the exotic species that are gradually being eradicated. We’ll stop for a snack in a lovely glade and return to our cars as the sun sets.
