This year I have volunteered as an ambassador for the 2020 Run For The Water race by The Gazelle Foundation. The foundation's mission is to "improve the quality of life for the people in Burundi Africa by providing access to clean water." As an ambassador I am working hard to bring greater awareness not only to the Houston area, but also across Texas and the U.S., of the important work the Gazelle Foundation is doing.
It would mean a lot if you would help me spread awareness by either participating with me in the Global Run For The Water or donating directly to the Gazelle Foundation through my Fundraiser!
The Global Run For The Water is a virtual 10-Miler, 5K and Kids K that can be run, jogged or walked from any location anywhere on the globe this year due to COVID-19. Choose your own starting line, whether it’s on a treadmill or on a neighborhood street. Your support of clean water is very, very real. Now more than ever, people in Burundi need access clean water for good hygiene as the first line of defense against COVID-19. If you join me, use my comp code AustinR4TW2020 for $5 off registration for the 10 Miler or 5k. During the registration process you will have the opportunity to donate to the foundation directly. Personally, I'd put that $5 towards the donation to help make a difference.
Global Run for the Water will kick off on October 30, 2020.
- Step 1: Register for the Global Run For The Water. Your confirmation email will contain links for you to create your virtual bib and a link to submit your results.
- Step 2: Run or walk your 5K or 10-Mile, any route you choose, any time between October 30 and November 8, 2020.
- Step 3: Submit your results by November 10 and create your virtual finisher's certificate.
- Step 4: Receive your 2020 Run For The Water Race Participant T-shirt by mail. More goodies and details to come!
OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP:
- Forward this Fundraiser with co-workers, friends, and family to get involved!
- After you register and get access to your virtual bib through your confirmation email, share your bib on social media @gzlfoundation #runforthewater #r4tw2020 #cleanwater to get your friends involved. (Be creative with your bib, save paper and use the bib for social media engagement, as you don't need it to run.)
- If you think the company you work for or own might like to Sponsor the event, great! Please contact michelle@gazellefoundation.org for opportunities.
The Gazelle Foundation started with Gilbert Tuhabonye and I know many of you have heard or read his story. If you haven't, I encourage you to read his autobiography This Voice in My Heart. Additionally, George W. Bush recently announced he will be publishing a book called Out of Many, One that includes a chapter on Gilbert.
