Beats By Girlz is a non-traditional, creative and educational music technology curriculum, collective, and community template designed to empower females to engage with music technology. We provide women, girls and gender expansion people with the guidance, access, tools and role-support to develop their interest (and ultimately their ability to pursue career opportunities) in music production, composition and engineering. We are working towards gender equity in a field where women are highly underrepresented and strive to help other groups mobilize and create similar change in their own communities.
We are operating in over 20 cities, across 8 countries and 4 continents, with new chapters opening up all over the world. Since our first classes in 2013 in New York City, we've seen over 2,000% growth as we've been working towards gender parity and fighting for technology justice.
We are at the forefront of the gender parity efforts in the US and abroad and have been one of the most visible organizations in our field, of which there are many. We are led by educators, artist, and professionals, several of which are at the top of their field. Our small staff has dedicated their time and energy to bring Beats By Girlz to where it is now, creating massive impact without massive funding. With what we’ve already accomplished we are poised for development and ready to expand.
