2024 Macon's Big Bike Ride Ambassador
Carolyn Mendes, Major Taylor Youth Coach
I’m supporting “The Big Bike Ride” because the ride is a great way to show case how the cycling culture in Macon is changing. Also, I’m excited about this ride because it’s an opportunity for me to encourage some of my friends and family to get on a bike. Bike Walk is leading the way with creative projects that inspire change and improve our community. Projects like bike lanes, painted cross walks and other traffic calming projects. All of these projects are helping to build a safer infrastructure for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. I hope the Big Ride will bring together families, communities and recreational riders of all abilities to experience a ride that will be fun and exciting.
Why I’m Passionate About This Mission:
Bike riding is one of Carolyn's favorite methods of staying healthy. “This has worked my whole body, from my shoulders all the way to the end of my toes”. But her favorite part is coasting down the hills. “I love to coast down the hills, wave your hand in the air like you just don’t care. It so nice coasting down those hills. It relieves a lot of stress.”
How You Can Help:
My goal is to raise $500 as part of Bike Walk Macon's collective effort to reach $5,000. Every dollar you contribute will directly support vital programs and initiatives that foster a healthier, more sustainable Macon. Whether it’s creating safer streets, building bike lanes, or advocating for better pedestrian facilities, your donation makes a real difference.
